I was wondering whether the was anyone who has an Ubuntu system that had been upgraded from the first version of Ubuntu (Hoary, I think) all the way to Karmic Koala?
Is that even possible?
What is the longest surviving upgraded-only Ubuntu system that you know of?

Do the repos still exist that far back to test whether it's possible?
Good question.
I think you can see which releases are available by looking at the web interface of the repositories.
Well, this isn't much, but with today's upgrade of my main system to 9.04, I've now taken it from 7.04 only on upgrades. That's 4 upgrades, and I'm pretty happy that each has gone off with mostly only minor nuisances.
@Scott. Ok, so that's the record for now and a good one at that.
What graphics card does the system have?
The reason I ask is that my system has an Intel graphics card on board and I remember one of the recent upgrades had some significant changes to the video architecture. Not sure if mine would have made it unscathed through that.
It's an older Nvidia card -- I use the 96.43 series of binary drivers. I've had to keep up-to-date with these through the upgrades and am on 96.43.13 now. This is where I've had the most trouble, but it hasn't been that bad. After every kernel upgrade I have to reinstall/recompile, which is a nuisance, but tolerable.
(I'd prefer to not use the proprietary drivers, but am willing to do so with this old system.)
